Second Year Students from Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff

Venue: Coed Cymru workshop, Tregynon.

A group of the second year students from the Welsh School of Architecture spent a week in Mid Wales on a learning module to better understand timber. During this time they visited the BSW saw mill in Newbridge on Wye and developed simple product ideas that could be used in a small fishing lodge on the river Wye. Two days were spent at the Coed Cymru workshops where they were shown various jointing and manufacturing techniques which they then applied to the making of various products. It was interesting to see how the process of making and handling wood shaped and informed their final designs.
